Check out Tuesday's (June 22) Miami Herald headline:
Keys Dodge Threat from Oil
"Forecasters say the state's delicate chain of islands is in no imminent threat from the oil gusher."
The article goes on to say "the risk of oil from the Deepwater Horizon blowout reaching the Florida Keys and South Florida anytime soon is now so remote that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has suspended its trajectory maps for the area, effectively downgrading the area to low risk."
As stated previously, you can get all the up to day, realtime information at the TDC web site at www.fla-keys.com.

Jim,
We're looking for a nice place to get away from everything for a week, but we've never been to the Keys. We're wanting to do some diving and fishing, but we're also hoping to find some fun things to do in the evenings. Would you recommend Islamorada for a younger couple?
Hello Theresa, Islamorada is certainly a place where you can get away from it all. The Florida Keys are extremely laid-back and casual. You would be considered "dressed-up" to be wearing khakis and a nice shirt to dinner. Shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops are standard wear.
You will find excellent fishing and diving as you might expect. The water is nice and warm this time of year so you can spend all day snorkeling the reefs and never get cold. It truly is beautiful.
As far as night life, Islamorada is a restaurant town with over 20 choices within a mile of Pines & Palms. When you check in, we provide you with our famous restaurant guide with a description of all the choices. For sunset celebration, I would recommend Morada Bay. Many of the spots have live entertainment lasting well into the night. If you happen to be here during a full moon, you must attend the full moon party at Morada Bay.
So the answer to your question is YES, Islamorada is a great place for a younger couple!
Jim,
That sounds perfect! Are you running any specials at your resort right now?
It depends when you want to visit. Our low-season rates go into effect beginning mid-August. We usually have something to fit any budget and we try to provide free upgrades if a nicer room is open when you arrive. Call Ana or Chris at 800-624-0964 or 305-664-4343.
Great news for all of us Jim! We're looking forward to a prosperous new year here in 2011!
